Stormy weather this week has slowed down the Michigan chip potato harvest. Wisconsin’s chip potato harvest got underway this week. Harvest is continuing in Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Chip potato harvest is complete in Georgia and still winding down in North Carolina. Growers in Ontario indicate that the crop is in good condition and yields are a little above average. Ontario has received plenty of rain this season. Overall, the chip potato market remains quiet. 


US packers shipped 1.372 million cwt of table potatoes during the week ending August 7, 2021. That is down from 1.510 million cwt a year earlier. USDA did not report any Michigan potato shipments during the week ending August 7, 2021. There were no reported table potato shipments a year ago. 


The weighted average shipping point price for Idaho Russet Burbanks is $17.52 per cwt, up from $17.11 per cwt last week. Delaware packers are selling baled 2000# tote bags of size A Round White potatoes for $16.50-$18.50 per cwt. Big Lake and Central Minnesota packers are selling 2000# tote bags of size A Yellow potatoes for $28.00-$35.00 per cwt. Delaware packers are selling baled 2000# tote bags of size A Yellow potatoes for $36.50 per cwt.
