Overall, chip potato movement remains slow and steady. Stronger April movement from Michigan was offset by reduced shipments from most other regions. Storage supplies appear to be plentiful as the industry transitions from storage potatoes to fresh potatoes. Shipments from Florida are down significantly from last year, due to frost and challenging planting/growing conditions. Rain and cold temperatures have delayed planting in southern Michigan. Planting is also off to a slow start in several other states.
